TEL Announces the Launch of Elius™1000, an Inkjet Printing System for OLED Panel Production
Tokyo Electron (TEL) announced today the launch of the Elius™1000 inkjet printing system for manufacturing organic light-emitting diode (OLED) panels.
In recent years, the use of OLED panels has been spreading from the conventional mobile device market to the TV and monitor display markets. Responding to this market expansion, TEL has newly developed the Elius1000 inkjet printing system for producing OLED panels of G4.5 substrate size (up to 730 mm x 920 mm).
Elius1000 can simultaneously print required amounts of red, green, and blue (RGB) electro-luminescent materials into each pixel of the OLED layer. This allows the system to deliver significantly higher panel productivity compared with conventional vapor deposition-based systems. The system also supports production of high-definition displays of over 200 pixels per inch (ppi), including 8K TVs and advanced IT products. To support customers developing proprietary displays, Elius1000 is also capable of dispensing up to six kinds of ink at once.
Earlier in 2014, TEL capitalized on its expertise in processing large substrates to launch the Elius2500 inkjet printing system. Together with this earlier model, the Elius series supports OLED displays with up to G8.5 substrates (2,200 mm x 2,500 mm), enabling mass production of large high-definition OLED displays.
“We developed Elius1000 for production of high-definition OLED displays,” said Hiroshi Ishida, TEL Vice President & FPD Business Unit General Manager. “Together with Elius2500, dedicated for larger OLED displays, TEL’s inkjet printing systems are significantly improving the productivity of organic luminescent layer formation in OLED panels, helping customers with their needs.”
TEL is committed to delivering high value-added products based on its unique technology development prowess, with the aim of providing useful technologies and optimized solutions that satisfy market needs.
